Core Values

Ethics and Integrity

Acting with respect and integrity is one of our core values.

Treating someone with respect means behaving towards them in a way that shows you understand their worth, dignity and uniqueness. It is a fundamental element in professional relationships and ethical conduct.

Behaving with integrity means consistently acting according to certain values and moral principles.

Diversity

Diversity is any dimension that can be used to differentiate groups and people from one another. In a nutshell, it’s about empowering people by respecting and appreciating what makes them different, in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, education, and national origin.

Diversity allows for the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. It means understanding one another by surpassing simple tolerance to ensure people truly value their differences.

Each individual in an organisation brings with them a diverse set of perspectives, work and life experiences, as well as religious and cultural differences. The power of diversity can only be unleashed and its benefits reaped when we recognise these differences and learn to respect and value each individual irrelevant of their background.

Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) are critical for a sustainable future. We commit to continually improve DEIB at iGlu across all fronts: race, gender identity, socioeconomic status, age, ability, language, sexual orientation, ethnicity, education, and beyond.

Inclusion

Inclusion is an organisational effort and practices in which different groups or individuals having different backgrounds are culturally and socially accepted and welcomed, and equally treated. These differences could be self-evident, such as national origin, age, race and ethnicity, religion/belief, gender, marital status and socioeconomic status or they could be more inherent, such as educational background, training, sector experience, organisational tenure, even personality, such as introverts and extroverts.

Inclusion is a sense of belonging. Inclusive cultures make people feel respected and valued for who they are as an individual or group. People feel a level of supportive energy and commitment from others so that they can do their best at work. Inclusion often means a shift in an organisation’s mind-set and culture that has visible effects, such as participation in meetings, how offices are physically organised or access to particular facilities or information.

The process of inclusion engages each individual and makes people feel valued as being essential to the success of the organisation. Evidence shows that when people feel valued, they function at full capacity and feel part of the organisation’s mission. This culture shift creates higher performing organisations where motivation and morale soar.

Sustainability

iglu recognises that businesses can have a negative impact on the environment. We are committed, and enjoy, finding ways in which we can reduce the impact of our work both in the office and when work takes us away from the office.

It is our policy to:

  • Recycle as much waste material as possible

  • Avoid the use of paper wherever possible. For example, sending invoices and quotes via email as PDF files.

  • Recycling equipment that is no longer of use to the company. For example, giving away items such as computers and printers that we no longer use.

  • Keep energy usage low. For example, making use of low energy light bulbs and ensuring that computers are shut down after work.

  • Purchase products made with recycled paper.

  • Purchase products with a lower environmental impact. Avoid unnecessary travel by making use of instant messaging, video and audio conferencing, telephone, and email.

The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals

iGlu proudly supports and is committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, there is one goal that is at the heart of everything we do. Goal Four — Quality Education. It states that countries and organisations should “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”

Confidentiality

We believe that our clients should have absolute trust in our ability to protect their confidentiality.

At a basic level this means that all conversations are private and confidential - clients should feel free to discuss any subject in the certain knowledge that (to the extent of the law) it will not be repeated or revealed to a third party.

In terms of documenation and communication, we will take every reasonable step to keep information secure and confidential (for example, using encrypted email and a VPN for computer based tasks).
